I am trying to follow the manuals of Wordfast classic (trial version). I got stuck when trying to create a sample glossary for the first time. First I opened a new glossary and saved it as a simple test, then I opened a new Word document, created a TM, started translating and chose a term in both the source and target language. In the window, that contains the two terms highlighted in green and prompts you to save the new terms, I kept getting the message "glossary not found" in spite of the fact that I made sure that the check box of glossary 1 was ticked and selected. I use Vista home premium and Word 2007. Could somebody help?

Have you selected the new glossary for the translation? Aug 12, 2009

It's not enough to only create a new glossary. You have to select it when you start a new translation, just the same way you have to select a TM. The selection is stored as a new .ini file for Wordfast, and the next time you start W/F the selected TM and glossary are the active ones.

A few suggestions Aug 12, 2009

Hi Ibrahim,

Make sure in the settings box that the desired glossary was created or selected under the Terminology and Glossary #1 tabs. Also make sure that under the same Glossary #1 tab "This glossary is active" is checked. Finally, make sure that "Add to glossary #1" is checked after pressing Ctrl+Alt+T to mark the source term and target term. Please let me know if this helps.

Sincerely,

Kristyna

Thank you very much. Aug 13, 2009

To Lars and Kristyna,

Thank you very much. Both your directions helped a lot. It was -as I suspected- an operator error. Beginners!

Thank you again,
Ibrahim Nassef
