Companions in latest version 5.61k?

Hello,

It seems to be my day for posting in the technical forums today! I've been using the same version of Wordfast (5.52zd) for some time now and find it very stable apart from processing very complex files with multi-tables of contents. In the latest one of these I've translated, everything seems to be fine until after clean-up when suddenly the list of figures in the table of contents disappears altogether! The TOC itself and the list of tables are still there and as far as I know I've processed the field codes exactly the same way. Another problem was that one of the images in the document resized itself (to cover several pages!) after clean-up and the only way I could shrink it back to normal size was to copy it in again from the source file. I've had these issues before with these very complex files (same client) and I thought I'd try and upgrade to a newer version of Wordfast and see if that helped.

Unfortunately I can't find how to activate Companions in the new version. I vaguely remember that they're now in Word format, but how do I make them visible? Also, is it possible to revert to only seeing the target text you've already translated rather than both after you've pressed Alt Down after each segment? I found that a really useful feature of 5.52zd, especially when working with complex layouts.

Many thanks,

Claire

Yes, I tried that Nov 4, 2009

Hi John,

Yes, I tried Ctrl + Alt+ m but nothing happened. Didn't try Ctrl + Alt + g, though and I've currently reverted to my previous version as I couldn't stand not having the companions! Could they have been assigned to something else?

Thanks,

Claire

did you press "m" twice in rapid succession? Make sure you have a segment open.

Hope this works!

Ah! Nov 4, 2009

I thought it meant the whole sequence twice, not just the letter. That explains why nothing happened! However, when I do the right sequence, it just causes Word to crash and restarting Word leads to the same thing again. Might I have to change settings somewhere?

Claire
