I recently reinstalled my computer.
I exported TMs in tmx format as backup from WF6 Pro.
Then installed those TMs to newly installed WF6 Pro.
It says, Total Imported: 0.
Why is that?
Did I have to export them in txt format?
Thank you for your help. | | | check file extention | Jan 18, 2010 |
i had a problem like that a few months ago... did you check the extension of the file ? maybe that's just it
type .tmx at the end of the file name and see if it solves it | | | Masahiro Imafuji United States Local time: 07:06
Member (2007) English to Japanese + ... TOPIC STARTER Ther is an extension, .tmx | Jan 18, 2010 |
Thanks for your reply and suggestion.
I see the extension when I choose a tmx file such as "ooooo.tmx".
Do I have to change "symbolic name" from "ooooo.txt" to "ooooo.tmx"
under Local TM properties?
And I tried it but it does not seem working.
Here is what I did.
Click "Open" under Local TM.
Click "Browse" to locate the .tmx file I want to import.
Without having a chance to name the file in the "symbolic name" filed,
Local TM import pop-up message appeared saying
"This file is in TMX format, a copy will be created in local format.
Non compatible locales will not be imported.
Press OK to continue.
Then click OK as told.
Total imported: 0 while Total TMX TUs: 4149.
The sybolic name has .txt extension.
I changed it to .tmx.
A pop-up window appears saying,
TM connection established successfully.
As a test, I typed a very important word that should be in the TM just imported.
Does not find the word in TM.

Dear Masahiro,
What is the version of Wordfast Pro you use? Please make sure your download and install the latest version of Wordfast Professional available at:
http://www.wordfast.com/store_download.html
This is extremely important.

Please make sure that the language variants of the currently open project are the same as those of your TMX file.
I hope this helps. Please let me know.

Yasmin,
Thank you for your post.
My WF Pro's version is 2.2.4 and I believe this is the latest.
The project's language variants and TM's language variants are the same.
When I open tmx files with a text editor, I see many tags that are similar to html tags.
Do you think some of those tags are messed up?
If so, do you think it is helpful for you to see what's wrong?
Thanks,
Hiro | | | Yes, please! | Jan 19, 2010 |

Sorry if I used a confusing word. I just mean send your problem details and how you created this TM, did you use it in several CAT tools, for example? That is it.
Thanks in advance!

Yasmin,
Thanks for letting me know.
I just sent another one to the address you gave me here.
Yes, I changed the ## bit to @ at the first time too.
Hope you get it this time.
Hiro | | | Language Locales | Jan 26, 2010 |
Dear Masahiro,
Thanks for sending the TMX file. Actually, the problem is in the language locales used in the TM. In the TM, there are *four* language locales (JA-01, JA, EN-US, EN) one of which is not supported in WF Pro (JA-01).
I opened the TMX TM in NotePad and run two find-replace operations. First, I replaced "JA-01" with "JA". Then, I replaced "EN" with "EN-US".
In Wordfast Pro, I created a project: English (United States) > Japanese. Then, I opened the TMX TM. Now, all the entries has been imported successfully.
Please try that and let me know.

Yasmin,
Thank you for your help.
I had been wondering why you have
Japanese
Japanese (Japan)
in Local TM Properties.
I had chose Japanese (Japan) all the time.
But
After I read your post and tried Japanese i.e. without (Japan),
it worked.
I did not look like all the info was imported but almost everything, I thought.
For example,
Total TMX TUs:4149
Total Imported: 3371
This is not the file I sent you.
This tmx did not have JA-01 at all.
Then, I just did some search for EN.
There were some EN in this tmx.
So I changed this to EN-US.
Guess, what!
Total TMX TUs:4149
Total Imported: 3489
"Imported" increased.
And I found "JAXX-" in the tmx.
So I replaced it with "JA".
Guess what?
All IMPORTED!!!!
This was an eye opener for me!
Thank you so much for your help!!!
Hiro
