Does anyone know why in some files the option SAVE TRANSLATED FILE is not available?

Please help me with this.

Hi Vanessa,

Are you using the Wordfast free version? I have the same problem and I thought that the "Save translated file" function might be not available because I am using the free sofware version. Is it your case?

Do you work from the original file(s)? Jun 30, 2010

If you work with e.g. a xxx.doc.txml file received from your client, you won't be able to save the translated file as .doc, because you don't have the original .doc file the .txml file was created from.

Could this be the problem?

...and I have the source doc file.

It is strange. I was about 30 minutes opening a bunch of files and all have this option available. All except this one.

I already told the client, he received the file just saved, so for now is OK.

I just wonder if this starts to happen with other files as well, and if there is any trick or option or preference hidden that I can rely on next time.

I believe I had this experience once, but as far as I recall, I figured it was a funny way of simply saying: no changes were introduced to this particular file since the last 'Save translated file'.

This could obviously be confirmed / rejected by a simple test, where something (whatever) is changed in this particular file (and then perhaps even saved with a click on 'Save' first?). Is the option visible / clickable now?

Just a thought.

Could you send me the file ([email protected]) and let me know what your OS is and what version of Wordfast Pro you are using? Also, what do you mean "Save Translated File" is not available? You don't see the option in the menu? Or you get an error when you try to save translated file?

Sorry, I have a highly strict NDNC agreement with this client, cannot send.

But concerning the other question, the option is not available. It is not enabled, not 'clickable'.

There is no error, because I cannot see to click.

The version is 2.2.4

Hi Vanessa,

You are working with an older version of WFP. I am not sure if you are on Windows or Mac, but both have updated versions available (Windows version 2.4 and Mac version 2.3). You can download the latest version from our website here - www.wordfast.com/store_download.html

I downloaded and installed all correctly, but the file, that file, is still without the Save translated file. The option is there, but not clickable.

The client told me that this file is a FOU. What this means?
