WF reads language/locale tag from INX?!

Hi!

One translator told me following:
She received a project where the existing TM had source set to EN-US.

She opened the TM and an English INX file in Wordfast Pro 2.4.1.
But Wordfast gave an error message saying that the language in INX is EN-UK, and it won't work since the locale is incompatible.

This sounds weird to me. I wasn't even aware that there is a locale setting in Indesign, and that it is saved in the INX. In Trados, I don't think this setting is read anyway - when you open a file in Tageditor it simply inherits the TM locale.

Can anyone confirm this behavior, and is there a workaround?

/Jan

TXML Mar 29, 2011

Hi Jan,
Did she open a pre-segmented TXML file? This could be the problem.

The other day I used the PM perspective to pre-translate a file. The TM I used was EN-GB I think, then I tried to open the segmented TXML file that was generated in a project with an EN-US target locale. The result was an error message.

TTX? Mar 31, 2011

Dear Jan,

John's prediction is possible.

Another prediction: The file could be rather a TTX (even of an INX origin) which could explain the story. Have you seen the file yourself?

Kind regards,
Yasmin
