I would like to see my name and surname in the Translation Memory I created with Wordfast PRO 2.4.2. Can I do it from within WF Pro or manually? Thanks and regards, AT

You can name the TM the way you want Jun 19, 2011

In WFP, a TM has in a way two names: 1) the file name as seen by the operating system,. 2) what WFP calls the symbolic name, which is what you see inside the program (user interface).

For 1), you can name it the way you want, within the restrictions imposed by your operating system (for instance, not all characters may be allowed, there could be a maximum length etc.)

For 2), there's a limit to the length, it's much shorter than for 1).

For TUs? Jun 19, 2011

If you look at a WF-TM in Wordpad, there is the user-ID for each entry. Probably WF assigns this ID when creating the TM. When exporting from other tools you can usually chose if the ID should be exported too, so you see who has created the translation in the first place.

Attributes Jun 19, 2011

This is one of the biggest problems with WF Pro: the lack of TM attribute compatibility between Pro and Classic. I haven't found a way to modify the user attribute that is automatically assigned (can someone please explain what JO stands!? this shows up in the creator field of my memories in the TM admin perspective).

In addition, it isn't very clear what attributes are being added when using the clean-up function via the PM perspective. It would be nice if WF Pro supported TM attr

The WFP user name is inherited from your OS account Jun 19, 2011

Guess: it's the first two letters of the Windows user name you are currently logged in with. Over here, I get DO. Homer Simpson would get HO, doh!
Indeed, there's no way to define a user name inside WFP2 (same with WFP4, btw).

Thanks Dominique, that makes sense. Defeats the purpose of having attributes when I am collaborating with John Travolta using a remote TM! We'll never know whose TU is whose!

Have a nice weekend!
John
