How to tell WFP NOT to translate certain words?

Hello,

I know there is the hidden text feature, but I think what Im looking for is different:

translating a text about a research Institute, and the name shouldnt be translated but left as it is in Source. the name appears about 200 times (a 22,000 word doc!) and I want WFP just to copy it over to the target side when I leverage it with the TM, or MT it or whatever.

Basically is there any faster way than just copying and pasting this name every other sentence?

Using the copy placeables button wouldnt work with this either Im guessing

Or just copy the whole source segment into the target box and translate around it?
what should I do?

thanks guys!
cynthia

Hi Lori,

sorry for being a bit dense, Im a newbie at all this!

do you mean putting the 'untranslatable word' as teh same thing in both source and target sections of the glossary?

just want to be sure I understand what you mean...
thanks!

Dear Cynthia,

Does it start with a capital letter? If so, just type the first letter and you should be offered the whole word/phrase on a drop-down list. The same is the case of Proper Names, email addresses, URLs, and numbers.

HTH,
Yasmin

Hi Yasmin,

some words do, some words dont. are you suggesting I put URLs, email addresses etc in the glossary? that's the only drop down menu Ive seen pop up so far...

Im not really sure what you're referring to....

thanks,
cyn

Dear Cynthia,

Please see this:
http://www.wordfast.com/tips_and_tricks/autosuggest/autosuggest.html

When you type the first character in the target cell, you will get a suggestion.

Also, you can use Ctrl+Tab (tab, tab, etc.) until you reach the word you need.

HTH,
Yasmin
