How to force MT on an already translated segment in WF Classic

Hello,
A new WF Classic (6.03t) user here. Actually I'm still using the demo and figuring out if this is right for me.
Well I noticed that in WF Anywhere you can assign a hotkey to 'force' MT suggestions to appear, even if the segment has already been translated.
Is this function available in WF Classic? Sure, the first time you click on a segment, the drop down MT box appears, but I can't find any way to bring it up again if I come back to that segment later.

Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks
Heidi

Enable the option Jun 9, 2012

Hello Heidi,

Check the option Enable MT on already-translated segments on the MT tab.

Cheers,
Gerard

How to force MT on an already translated segment in WF Classic Jun 9, 2012

Gerard,

Thanks for the reply. Actually I already have that option selected, but MT only occurs the first time I visit a segment. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks
Heidi

In Wordfast Classic, you can use Alt+Home+Home to force MT suggestions.

Dominique,

Alt+Home+Home?
I have only one 'home' button on my computer keyboard.....
Could you clarify?

Alt+Home+Home = Alt + Home twice in a row, in a quick succession Jun 10, 2012

It just means that you hit the 'Home' key twice in a quick succession, while maintaining 'Alt' pressed down.
Wordfast Classic has other similar shortcuts for turning on/off the "companion windows", for instance Ctrl+Alt+G+G (for the Terminology companion). These commands are also labelled "double Ctrl+Alt+G" or "Ctrl+Alt+Gx2".

A comment about Alt+Home (x2) Jun 10, 2012

It may happen that after Alt+Home+Home the MT translation does not appear. In this case repeat the procedure again (or twice) and the MT translation will appear. This is a very useful command.

Alt+Home+Home not working Jun 11, 2012

Hello,

Many thanks for your replies.
Unfortunately the ALT+HOME+HOME combination does absolutely nothing. I've repeated it several times, but still nothing.
I have ticked 'enable MT on already translated segments".

I am running 6.03t with Microsoft Word 2010
Does anyone have a suggestion about how to get this working?

Do I have to start fiddling around with Visual Basic macros (i.e. ALT+F8)?

Sorry to keep going on about this. I know it may seem like a small feature but for me this kind of thing is make or break when I am looking to purchase a translation software (since several other packages seem to do MT very well).
Thanks for any more help.

Heidi

I thought this would be restricted in demo mode, but I just tried with the demo version, and Alt+Home+Home does work on my machine.

You can indeed press ALt+F8, select the WfMT macro and hit the Run button: this should do the same as Alt+Home+Home. At least it works over here.

Few other packages support as many MT engines simultaneously as Wordfast Classic. And none supports MT subsegments via an autocomplete-like feature. Wordfast Classic's AC + subsegments from MT works like SDL's AutoSuggest, except that you don't need a big TM to get started.
