I tried to install Word Fast Classic version 4 in demo mode.
It appears the message Congratulations, Word Fast is now installed.

Previoulsy, I have set the Security to Low in MS-Word and have disabled the User Account Control.

I cannot display the Word Fast menu on MS-Word by selecting View > Toolbars. The option is not there.

I use Windows 7 Professional and MS-Word 2000 SR-1.

I also use MS Word 2000 (but not SR-1 - which probably does not have an effect on this situation), with Windows XP. However, I use version 5 of Wordfast, and that may make a difference.

The answer might be to use the Tools menu:
Tools > Templates and Add-Ins

Then, in the Templates and Add-Ins dialogue box, if Wordfast is not already in the list, use the "Add..." button to find wordfast.dot and then tick the box next to its name to select it, and click OK.
In my case, this produces a Wordfast menu after Help. If this is my first action after starting Word, the Wordfast toolbar also appears; if I have done something else with Word first, it doesn't appear and I make it appear by pressing Ctrl+Alt+W on the keyboard.

If you don't know where to find wordfast.dot, you could use Windows Explorer (Windows-Key+E) to find it or the wordfast.doc manual may tell you where it is for your version.

I hope that helps a bit.

Oliver

Oliver, I cannot find the wordfast.dot file. I did a search from the Windows Start menu.

Where is the Windows-Key that you mention ?

Win 7 + Word 2000 = trouble ahead Nov 28, 2012

This is probably an undesirable combination. Why? Because ancient versions of Office put the Startup folder of Word (to which wordfast.dot is to be copied) under c:\program files, and modern versions of Windows deny access to folders in the c:\program files hierarchy (for security reasons).

In modern versions of Windows & Office, the location of the Startup folder is:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\Startup

See http://www.wordfast.net/?kb=178-32 for details. Chances are you don't have such a folder. If so, you need to manually create it and define it as Startup folder in Word 2000. Then Wordfast should be able to install properly.

I have the Startup folder Nov 28, 2012

on the location you mention :

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\Startup

But the folder is empty. I also tried the installation with my anti-virus disabled.
I cannot find wordfast.dot anywhere. I tried the search function from the Windows Start menu.

I also enabled the display of hidden files and folders.
