After installing Office 2013 on a new Laptop with win 8.1, latest update, I installed Wordfast 6.07x.
All worked ok, but during translation the selection offer table on ambiguous glossary entries did not appear so I could not insert any contents from this entry.
Then, when I installed version 6.03t, this fault did not appear, but now during translation (only when a segment is open) the colouring of markings in Word disappears (the selection function being there, but without visual control). This function is important for drag&drop or for selecting partial segments for translation.
I looked for an archive of historical versions of WF, but such a thing seems not to exist.

By the way, did sombody find meanwhile a way to get the well-proven "autocorrection" context menu item back in Word 2013? I found a macro in an English forum, but it did not work in my German Word.

Can you rephrase this, or include a screenshot illustrating the problem?

I don't understand that either.

You probably refer to the way spellchecking is implemented in Word 2013 (vs. previous versions). In the context of MS-Word, AutoCorrect is something different.

Is this the macro you're referring to?

Do you mean: the glossary drop-down box (which appears when there is more than one glossary entry for the term) does not appear when you press the keyboard shortcut for it? If so, then I'm afraid I've had similar problems with several versions of version 6x. Even with my most stable version it doesn't always work as expected. Highly annoying.

During translation (only when a segment is open) the colouring of markings in Word disappears (the selection function being there, but without visual control). This function is important for drag&drop or for selecting partial segments for translation.

Are you referring to the dots that indicate where spaces are between words? If so, then you have to fiddle with the function in MS Word to show or hide hidden text. In Word 2003, it is Tools, Options, View, Hidden, and you have to combine it with pressing a shortcut (in Word 2003, it is Ctrl+comma).

ProZ.com's forum software doesn't have built-in image upload. Upload your image to tinypic.com and then post the URL here.

As Samuel said, you can upload it to a free hosting service like tinypic.com. You can then include it in your post via the following code:

< img scr="your_tinypic.com_link_here" >

Remove the spaces after < and before >

@ Dominique + Samuel,

Item 1: Yes to Samuel, the problem is as you describe it. Teh screenshot shows how it should function (Wf 6.03t under Word 2010).

Item 2: No. Normal Word function: If I want to copy a word, e.g., I mark it with the left mouse button. It is then highlighted, as e.g. "electrodes" (in German Word, the expression is "Markieren"), and I can copy it or drag and drop it (or force the next segment).
The problem with Wf 6.03t and Word 2013 is: If a translation segment is open during using this function anywhere in the document, the highlighting colour disappears once I release the mouse button; the marked item does not distinguish itself from the rest of the text any more. The function itself will work, but I have to do the action blindly.

Item 3: Yes to Dominique. I know the issue is not related to Wf, but interesting for me as a Word user. In Word 2010, in the spellchecking context menu there is an item to insert the correct proposition directly into the autocorrect function so you can easily enter corrections for typing errors you frequently make. This menu item has disappered in Word 2013. There are ongoing discussions on this issue, but up to now, I did not find any comfortable solution. As I mentioned, a macro that I found in some English forum does not work with me.

It almost, almost sounds like overaggressive segment protection. Try setting a different number in WFC > Setup > General > Protect delimiters.

As I mentioned, a macro that I found in some English forum does not work with me.

Can you point us to the macro?

Word 2013 AutoCorrect Restored Jun 29, 2014

Teh link to the macro I mentioned:
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_pages/customize_shortcut_menu.html#WACR

I installed teh macro in W2013; it is shown as active but to no effect.

Btw, I doubt that I here repeatedly mistype "teh" instead of "the". Is it possible that some mechanism in firefox or in this forum miscorrects me?

If you have device = Vorrichtung and device = Bauelement in your glossary, this is what you should see with WFC 6.07x when selecting device with Ctrl+Alt+right:

Btw, I strongly recommend you choose to make bookmarks not visible in Word:

Wordfast has a built-in shortcut for this: Alt+F12. It copies the highlighted text to the end of the target segment. Have you tried it? It certainly worked for me with your sample document.

Bookmarks Jun 30, 2014

@Dominique:
What is the disadvantage of enabling bookmarks? Up to now, I never did care much about them.

Of course I regularly use Alt+F12, but there are cases e.g. when during translation a better expression comes to mind and I want to change this one in the occurrences of teh already translated part of teh document. Find and replace does not always work because of grammatical differences.
The other case is forcing a segment via Shift+Alt+down. I often translate patents with sentences of up to one page. Then I force the segment e.g. up to teh next comma. This also helps later translating the Claims where this same or similar sentence is split into single sements.
I also often have teh phenomenon that Wf ignores EOS characters (full stops) and opens till the end of teh paragraph.

Dominique and Samuel, thanks to you both so far

Peter

(I'll give you two of the reasons why I am reluctant to disclose my full name on the web: Recently someone concluded a corntract with a provieder in my name with my home address, fake bank account and retrieved the included I-phone from the parcel service shop though I never lost any identity papers.
In the last months, I regularly receive applications from translators worldwide with CV etc. who seem to take me for an agency. My research for a list containing my e-mail address was without success.)

Problems seem solved Jul 4, 2014

The weather having allowed one full day of work in the open air with the laptop, both the main problems seem to have disappeared thanks Protect delimiters set to 2 instead of 3.
I never would have suspected a setting at this point.

Thanks

Peter
