Hello,

I was trying to open a PDF file and this is the message that I received:

There was a problem while converting PDF document to Word file:
Can't get object clsid from progid.

Can someone let me know what this error message means and how can I resolve it? I've never encountered this error message before with a PDF file.

I am using WF Pro version 3.4.3, OS- Windows 7.

Thank you!

Several possible reasons + alternatives Apr 7, 2015

Wordfast Pro cannot deal with all PDF's. This particular PDF could be protected by a password (yes, even if you can open it without being asked for a password), or it could contain text as bitmap graphics (scanned PDF) rather than as text etc.

Since Wordfast Pro cannot open that particular PDF, try with Wordfast Anywhere. If that doesn't work either, you will have to use something else, eg. FineReader.

I also upgraded to WFP 3.4.3 and can no longer process all the PDFs I was able to process with earlier versions. This is definitely a bug that has slipped in to the latest version and needs to be corrected.

The same thing happened to my trainee today with the same version of WFP.
