Easy WordFast question: how to get next 2 or 3 sentences (not just 1) to pop up for translation?

Instead of getting the next one sentence to pop up for translation, I would like to get the next two or three, or the next paragraph to pop us for translation.

I have tried Alt-Page Down but that does not work.

to change the segmentation method. Go to Setup>Segments>Segmentation method and select your option (paragraph or sentence) which are the second and the third options below the recommended regular one.

Force segment Aug 7, 2007

To have full control over segmentation, select the text you would like to include in your next segment and click on Force Segment.

Force segment Aug 7, 2007

Hi Dan.

I am trying your method but do not seem to have a Force Segment button. Where is it? What does it look like? Is there a keyboard shortcut?

Thanks!

Hi Edward,

The shortcut for force segment is alt+shift+down. One thing I wanted to point out however is that you can't expand a segment beyond a paragraph marker. This is most likely your problem if alt+page down isn't expanding it.

Good luck,

John

Thank you, John.

I had just read that in the manual. You are right. I am losing my paragraphing. Is there any way around this?

More paragraphs in one segment? Aug 7, 2007

Hi again,

I don't see why you would want to include a paragraph mark inside a segment. The Force Segment command eliminates the paragraph mark after it prompts you. I don't really understand what you are trying to do. Maybe an explanation would help us find a better solution.

Dan

Paragraphing Aug 7, 2007

Hi Dan.

I have an outline that looks like this:

I. The quick brown fox...
A. ...jumped over...
1. ...the lazy dog's back.

II. Now is the time...
A. ...for all good men...
1. ..to come to the aid of...
2. ... their country.

I have the translation elsewhere and would like to paste it in so that it will be in the TM.

Replace paragraphe marks Aug 7, 2007

Instead of [return] hit [shift+return]
You can also search&replace: search ^p and replace by ^l.

You could also align the documents, then run the translate tool in the tools tab.

This might take more time, but you'd get a cleaner TM, segmented at the sentence level.

Good luck,

John
