This is what happens quite (too) often: I'm writing and at a certain point I perform a search in CONTEXT SEARCH, I do my search. Then, after doing the search I go back to the text I'm translating At that point I find myself at the beginning of the text. There, I go to the segment I was translating and I finish to translate that segment. I've to close the document , go back to Word, recover the document to open it again. This is very, very unpleasant. What is "context search"? Never heard of that. | | | Lucia Messuti Italy Local time: 19:26 English to Italian + ... TOPIC STARTER It is a function of Wordfast | Nov 13, 2007 |
When you would like to find a term in the TMs you go to CONTEXT SEARCH (4 arrows button). | | | I have the same problem | Nov 13, 2007 |
I asked here and on the yahoo wordfast group and the best I got was that it is probably because I have too many other macros. As I am very fond of my macros I've just resolved to do without context search, which is a nuisance, and sometimes I do a search directly in the TM. I hope someone else can give us a better solution. In fact, I've switched computers since the problem started, so I think I can rule out it being something specific to my system. I asked the Wordfast rep at a recent ProZ conference about it, but she hasn't got back to me about it. I too am forced to sometimes fish around directly in the TM, for fear of Word freezing up on me. It really would be good to hear from someone with some idea about this! | | | Lucia Messuti Italy Local time: 19:26 English to Italian + ... TOPIC STARTER
Perhaps there was a problem with Abby Fine Reader as it was in the Add-ins together with Wordfast I uninstalled Abby and installed it again. Then I uninstalled WF and installed it again. Now it seems it's working....let's cross fingers Lucia | | | Context search | Nov 29, 2007 |
Hi Lucia encountering same problem after installing latest version of wordfast. Temporary solution - 1. Do not close the NEW context window (which pops on finding the term search) 2. Return back to your translation session (with the context search window minimised) 3. Validate current segment 4. Now you can close the context window. Now you can close the context window. In other words, while working on a translation session (with an open segment), when you attempt context search, and it opens a new window (for the context) - DO NOT close this window (context window) before you have validated the open segment. You can keep many context windows open. But always close an open segment from where you accessed that particular context search window. Hope this helps. It has given me a temporary solution as of now.
