Bio
I am bilingual by birth, as although I am Russian, I lived and was brought up in Lithuania, so my native languages are Russian and Lithuanian. I was educated in three languages: Lithuanian, Russian and English.

After graduating the University of Klaipeda, where I achieved a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, I started to work in Lithuania as an engineer. At the same time I had been translating American and British films into Lithuanian for Baltic Cable TV providing transcripts for voiceover. I enjoyed the fact that I could make use of my knowledge of English which I studied as one of my major subjects at the University. However my real linguistic experience began in 2003 when I started working as a duty interpreter on an off-shore oil platform in the Persian Gulf.

I enjoyed working as an interpreter to such extent that soon after I decided to change my career, and in 2004 I came to London and obtained the Certificate in Community Interpreting from the College of North West London.

Having acquired my professional qualification I started working as a public service interpreter. I first registered with a number of agencies and councils; the majority of my work at that time was in hospitals and local government agencies. In 2006 I started working as a telephone interpreter for Language Line, which included a lot of work for the police. Additionally, I have been translating various documents between English, Russian and Lithuanian languages.

To continue my professional development I passed the Metropolitan Police test for interpreters in 2006, and the DPSI exam in 2009. I joined the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL) and the Association of Police and Court Interpreters (APCI).

Currently, I mainly interpret in courts and police stations, but I am also engaged with a number of agencies that occasionally book me for various business meetings and workshops.

Finally, I would like to add that I am very dedicated and passionate about my work. I appreciate the responsibility involved, and I always take my role very seriously, strictly abiding by the Code of Practice. I have been receiving positive reviews from clients throughout my interpreting career, but I feel that there is always room for improvement, and this is yet another factor attracting me to this profession.
