I am a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, with twenty-two years time in service, on active duty. I served in the military since graduating from U.S. Marine Corps "Boot Camp" in 1985, until retiring from the U.S. Army at midnight, December 31, 2010. Some of my time in service was Reserve time.
I learned Spanish as a Mormon missionary in Uruguay, from 1981 to 1983. I also resided in Uruguay in 1984. I have been fluent in Spanish since 1982.
I was a 3/3 Spanish linguist in the military from 1985 to 2008, based on the Defense Language Proficiency Tests III and IV - Spanish. I scored 3/2 Plus on the Defense Language Proficiency Test V - Spanish.
Since retiring from the military, I translated the screenplay for the film Blast and Whisper, from English into Spanish for use as subtitles and audio dubbing for the DVD version.
