About Me:

I am a Romanian native Interpreter and Translator based in Reading (UK) working with English, French and Spanish (B languages).

What is unique about me is that I have been studying languages, linguistics and translation my entire life. And I am still learning, every day. If you were to work with me, expect me to go above and beyond in finding the best terminology for your project.

What is driving me:

I am passionate about interpreting, both booth interpreting (simultaneous) and in-person/meeting (consecutive) or video/phone remote interpreting. I love technology and people, if you hire me, you will appreciate that I work well with anyone and in every situation. My mantra is that preparation is key and I expect us to collaborate before any event in order to make it successful.

What are my field of expertise:

I specialize in medical, technical translation and IT/localization. I am experienced in European Law and Legislation translation and interpreting. I recently passed the legal English exam and I am adding legal as one of my working fields.

What I am working on at the moment:

At the moment, I am focusing on legal and medical English so that I can help the local Romanian community communicate during the pandemic and prepare for the pre and post-Brexit life. If you are or you know a Romanian fellow in urgent need of linguistic services, I have reduced my tariffs with 50% to help as much as I can. Feel free to get in touch with me at: [email protected]

My work experience:

15 years of Technical/Engineering, Medical/Patents and IT/Computer Technology translation and localization (website localization, software localization), literary translation, movie subtitling, 12 years of Conference Interpreting (Simultaneous and Consecutive), 10 years of Project and People Management, training and coaching.

My working languages:

Translation: Romanian native, French bilingual; French, English, Spanish from/into Romanian. English and Spanish into French.

Interpreting: Simultaneous - French and Spanish from/into Romanian; consecutive (meetings, appointments, phone, Zoom/Skype) - English, French and Spanish from/into Romanian.

My education and certifications:

2020: Certified Legal Interpreter and Translator, Romanian Ministry of Culture (English into Romanian), 9.65/10, passed with distinction

2011-2015: PhD studies in Translation Studies and Linguistics, University of Bucharest (French and Romance Languages); Very good/Average, Good, Very Good

2010: Master Degree in Conference Interpreting and Translation Studies, Transylvania University of Brasov (French/Romanian); Valedictorian

2009: Sworn Interpreter and Translator, Romanian Ministry of Justice (French and Spanish/Romanian)

2008: Erasmus Paris IV Sorbonne, France (Romance Translation Studies and Linguistics, French and Spanish); 18/20

2008: Bachelor Degree in Translation Studies and Conference Interpreting, University of Bucharest (French and Spanish/Romanian); Graduated with distinction

2006-2008: Various translation internships in France and Romania

2004: French Bachelor Degree (French diploma), Unirea College, Brasov (French and English class); 9.4/10; English 10/10, French 10/10

2000: Second Grande Diploma, Brasov (French and English class); 9.5/10

1990: I started learning intensively French as a second language (I was 5 years old and became bilingual); 3 years later, I started learning English (I was 8 years old). I continued to study French and English in parallel during second grade and high school (8h per week, then 12h per week). I’ve started learning Spanish intensively in the University, trained to be a translator and interpreter. I am now C1 in Spanish.

I am able to translate from Portuguese and Italian as relay languages.

My hobbies:

I am passionate about learning Asian languages (I’ve studied Korean in the University, I took 2 years of Japanese classes and I started to learn Chinese Mandarin) and I like to hike or stay outdoors as much as possible.
