Hay varias explicaciones... quiero estar segura! Si alguien también me pudiera decir que significa **RJ** en el mismo contexto, estaré eternamente agradecida :}

I'm sorry but I have no more than a gut feeling on this one. Seeing that both times ss is abbreviated you have two dates, I'm under the impression it may simply be an abbreviation for "sesiones".

Explanation:
In this context where SS refers sentencias, RJ stands for "Repertorio Jurisprudencial" or "Repertorio de Jurisprudencia", collections of caselaw of which there are several well-known publishers in Spain (principally Editorial Aranzadi and El Derecho Editores.) "RJ" is usually used to refer to the "Repertorio Aranzadi de Jurisprudencia", while "EDJ" is used to refer to the "El Derecho Jurisprudencia" database. As is customary in Spain, the writer here cites the judicial decision by its date and the number assigned to the case. The problem here is that the individual decisions are usually cited as "RJ 1990, 504" and "RJ 1990, 3289." (= two decisions issued in 1990 and assigned case numbers 504 and 3289). As you can see below, these very same decisions from the Supreme Court, Sala de lo Penal have been cited (among others) on the webpage of the Seminario de Derecho Penal (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona):
