English term

kit lots

English to French Medical Medical: Instruments immunoassay system
Hello,

How can I translate "kit lots" in: "Do not mix reagents between kit lots or top up reagents."

"Ne mélangez pas les réactifs venant de lots (de kits) différents".

Context:

If reagents are removed from the system for later use, they must be stored upright at 2ºC...8ºC.
Take care to avoid contamination and spills.
Before replacing reagents to the system, inspect them for any evidence of contamination.
If any contamination is observed, the reagent must be discarded.

thx

Dr Sue Levy (X) Apr 3, 2006:
It's not too late. Contact the moderator. IMO accuracy IS a big deal and it should be the concern of all translators.
Valery Ballais (asker) Apr 3, 2006:
you're right... but I guess it's too late now
Drmanu49 Apr 3, 2006:
I still don't see how you can use "sortes de kit" for kit lots. That is a mistranslation I would not accept.
Valery Ballais (asker) Apr 3, 2006:
It's no big deal because everybody knows that it shoud be "sortes de kit" and not "sorts de kit". Moreover I didn't add the definition in the glossary.

Drmanu49 Apr 3, 2006:
Hwo can you accept an answer which is not even French?

disagree Drmanu49 : not French! Even if the answer is accepted after correction, your answer was wrong and misleading. In this case, it is even potentially dangerous.

thank you, but the question asker thinks the otherwise
disagree Dr Sue Levy (X) : not different types of kit - reagents from the same type should not be mixed if they have different lot numbers

Ne mélangez pas les réactifs venant de de lots différents

I suppose each kit lot is similar. This is what I understand :
if there is any reagent left in a kit, it should not be topped or mixed with another kit's reagent.
S'il reste du réactif d'un kit (lot), ne pas le mélanger ou le rajouter au réactif d'un autre kit (lot).

Thank you
agree Dr Sue Levy (X) : a kit contains all the reagents/material necessary for the assay - each kit will have a lot number.

Thank you Sue!
