Suplente/ayudante del sheriff/sostituto del alguacil Explanation: Ayudante del sheriff seems best in a USA context. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2007-05-14 11:12:25 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry sustituto. I still mix Italian and Spanish from time to time. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 days (2007-05-26 18:51:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- There is a Kudoz entry for subalguacil/alguacil delegado. I even found deputado. I shot the sherrif but I didn't shoot the Deputy, by Bob Marely is translated as deputado (but into Portuguese!). Diputado is the Spanish term (but used in politics, rather than elsewhere). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 days (2007-05-27 07:03:15 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In wordreference.com there is a list of combinations starting with deputy. Including deputy chief (subcomisario). One of all these suggestions should fit your needs. |
