L'Italia e' forse l'unico paese in Europa dove sono nate ben 11 universita telematiche e dove di fatto non esiste una vera universita a distanza.

The most popular translation seems to be "Open University" but an "open university" specialises in "distance learning" so surely (going by the context) the best translation would be "online university" or similar?

(sorry about the lack of accents - had to remove as they appeared as small square boxes - probably a technical glitch)

I think this would be more correct than online university, as in most cases the university itself is not virtual, but real (it has building and reception), whereas the courses/studies provided for students are accessible online.
