Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general)
French term or phrase: refus
See objective no.4 below. I am totally confused by this! I find the use of the term 'refus' rather unfortunately ambiguous in this context - is it referring to the waste itself or being used in the sense of rejection, refusal, elimination, etc.? It is also the 'preparer l'evolution' that confuses me. Can anyone throw any light on this for me? Sorry for several questions already today - just trying to clear up a few points urgently and I just can't figure this one out!

Explanation:
préparer l'évolution = prepare the ground/lobby in a certain direction....

In other words, they need to be taking active steps to ensure that European standards evolve, change, progress and that this progression includes rejecting or refsuing the principle of accepting the use of certain products as a sort of fertilizer (if I remember rightly - no time to check that out but met it once in an article)

Explanation:
As for "Préparer l’évolution...," I understand this as something along the lines of "Setting the stage for change..." The way you word this will depend on exactly who will be responsible for initiating such change, if it is clear from your text.

Bon courage !

disagree  DavidGP: have you considered that this might be a misprint for "reflux"?
