En una conversación sobre los síntomas del Alzheimer, se usa la palabra despiste, junto con la palabra olvido, olvidos. Ya que me he decidido por forgettings para olvido, o forgetfulness, dependiendo del contexto, me preguntaba cómo podría contrastar otro término para "despiste", con el objeto de no juntar a ambos términos en uno y conservar la diferencia entre uno y otro tal cual está en español. ¿Se os ocurre algo para sugerirme?

Explanation:
I would go for 'memory lapse/laspe of memory/memory loss' for 'olvido' and something like 'slip-up/mistake/clumsiness/confusion/oversight' for 'despiste'. My instinct would be 'memory lapse' and 'confusion'. I do not think that 'forgettings' can work, although people are welcome to disagree with me on that one.

Thinking about it, 'oversight' would not work in the context...

Yes Kate, you are definitely right. I don't know where I got forgettings. Sounds odd. I don't know how I got this idea from Awakenings, that movie with Robert De Niro. Thank you.

"forgettings" is definitely incorrect, you should use "forgetfulness" as you suggest. If the two words are used together you could say "confused forgetfulness" IMNQHO :)
