Portuguese term or phrase:Caixa de banco
Não sei se "bank cashier" ou somente "cashier" serviria, pois "cashier trata-se da pessoa/ emprego de "caixa". Na minha tradução "caixa" refere-se ao local que a pessoa se dirige para realizr um pagamento. Seria a mesma coisa?

Sorry I took too long to answer, as I explained above, my translation goes to USa and the sentence is: "Desta forma evitaremos dúvidas no recebimento dos títulos junto ao Caixa" For everything I read and searched, I guess "Bank Teller" is the better word for this case, but this discussion was pretty good to make us understand the physical area and employment within a bank. I really appreaciate all your hel and concern
Thanks everyone, my translation goes to USA and I have the following sentence in it: "Desta forma evitaremos dúvidas no recebimento dos títulos junto ao Caixa" For everything I read and searched, I guess "Bank Teller" is the better word for this case, but this discussion was pretty good to make us understand the physical area and employment within a bank.

UK or US?

... And, just to add fuel to the heated debate, it also depends if we are looking for an UK or an US term....
I agree with the comment above, by Marlene Curtis. O contexto da questão é o seguinte: ..."Na minha tradução "caixa" refere-se ao local que a pessoa se dirige para realizr um pagamento"... Portanto, eu diria "teller window".
Everyone, all answers are correct. I have been a Teller, a Lead Teller and then a Personal Banker for many years until last friday when I stoped working for a big bank here in the US after 3 years with them because I want to spend more time with translations and my kids. It all depends on the context, which we DO NOT have. Let's wait until Luana can give us more info and then we can discuss more about it. At this point this discussion will take us nowhere.
Please, see my last entry above. I said "bank counter" (where you do general transactions, and I do this on a regular basis here in the USA) or "teller window", where you deposit money, cash checks, etc.
Marlene, Bank Counter doesn't necessarily means where the teller is. It could mean also the front desk or even the counter where the deposits slips are so people can prepare their transaction.
As clients, we say "I went to the teller" to refer both the place and the worker, but the teller often refers to the place where he/she works as the window. It's also what's called at the post office. Nowadays, a lot of banks have a counter, but some still have a window.

"Bank teller" is the bank employee. "Bank counter" or "teller window" (the place where the teller works) the is the physical place you go to to do your transactions.
Yes, Marlene, but depending on the bank, doesn't a teller often refer to the place where she works as "her window"? A teller would say "he came to my window and.."
Aqui nos EUA, "teller" é o empregado do banco que trabalha no caixa. a bank teller, a bank employee responsible for receiving and disbursing money; sometimes referred to as a cashier (Employee).
Luana, será que é possível passar para agente a frase toda? Como falei na minha resposta, Bank Teller é o nome da posição de trabalho, Teller Window é onde o caixa trabalha. Todas as respostas estão certas porém precisamos saber o contexto para opinar.
When I go to the back here in Portugal I go to the 'caixa' to do my banking needs, withdraws, deposits, etc., here if you work at a bank and you tend to customers deposits, withdrawls, etc. you work as a 'caixa de banco', 'tua função é caixa'

Example sentence(s):
You need to get in the teller line to see a teller.
The teller would be able to process this deposit for you, sir.

Cashier
Explanation: You can use 'cashier' in the sense of the place and the person in the UK and other variants. I think 'teller' is US-specific, though it may be used elsewhere too.
