back forth banter -> back-forth exchange Explanation: like 'ping-pong'. I'm sure there are terms and literature on this, in English teaching. Is 'banter' the right term here? I feel it is an ESL-teacher 'jargon' perhaps. initiate -> reponse -> re-initiate -> response -> It's about asking questions and giving feedback, to keep a conversation going. asking open-ended questions instead of closed (yes/no) questions etc. Technical reference on conversation/ESL here: http://books.google.com/books?id=h9vsX4E2rJoC&pg=PA546&lpg=P... |

topic with a back forth banter (可)互相谈笑/打趣的(轻松)话题 Explanation: 感觉此处最好将 topic with a back forth banter 甚至是 staying on topic with a back forth banter 作为整体进行理解,才好处理整句。 He needs to work on holding a conversation by using more eye contact and staying on topic with a back forth banter. 他需要在以下方面下功夫:通过/借助更多目光接触和继续停留在(可)互相谈笑/打趣的(轻松)话题上,以使交谈继续下去。 以上供参考/润色。 -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 jours (2009-05-28 12:28:44 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Welcome, Julia! |
