Die freie Heilfürsorge ist eine kostenlose Krankenversorgung für bestimmte Personenkreise des öffentlichen Dienstes (Bundeswehr, Bundesgrenzschutz, Polizei) und beruht auf der Fürsorgepflicht des Dienstherrn. Für die Angehörigen wird allerdings nur Beihilfe gewährt, sodass diese eine Versorgung zu 100 Prozent nur durch einen beihilfekonformen Tarif bei einer privaten Krankenversicherung (PKV) erreichen können.
