Spanish term
No tienes que darme cuentas
Spanish to English

Poetry & Literature
Nos encontramos en una situación tensa entre marido y mujer en el que uno de ellos le dice al otro:
"No tienes que darme cuentas"
Me gustaría encontrar una expresión más cologquial que la siguiente:
"You don't need/have to justify yourself"

You don't have to keep me posted
Otra sugerencia - que indica que a uno no le hace falta informarle al otro respecto a todo lo que hace.

Thank you Carol. Without more context, it's a shot.

: I don't think 'posted' is a suitable word to use in poetry

I don't need/want (to hear) your excuses!
since you say the situation is tense, I think you need something that sounds a little "angrier", even if it isn't an exact translation. Literature/drama often calls for a slight adaptation rather than a very close translation
the contents of the brackets (to hear) are optional

"no worries"
Algo tan simple como "no worries". No me parece que el mejor camino sea la traducción literal en este caso.

Lisa McCarthy
: More or less the same as my other posting at 2 minutes " "you don't have to give me any explanations"

Well, its a matter of style albeit subtle. To me it is different to say "thre's no need for you to..." than "you don't need to..." but of course, its only my personal opinion

Forget about that!
or, just forget about that! Don't worry about that! Both are equivalents in English that mean the same as above in Spanish.

You don't need to earn my love
in the light of the context you just provided
