Spanish term or phrase: "esquema volumétrico"
Hi,
I am translating a step-by-step guide to drawing the human body. After the initial "esquema básico" of the body which is just the outline. "Esquema volumétrico" is the stage where they add volume to the body through the use of different shapes, cylinders, ovals...

E.G.

"En este paso convertiremos el esquema básico que hemos dibujado anteriormente en un esquema volumétrico. Utilizamos formas anchas para representar la fuerte musculatura de nuestro jugador de fútbol americano."

Up to now i have tried to avoid using a specific term and have used (as an example) "now we will add volume to our outline".
Is there a more specific term? As they constantly refer to this "Esquema volumétrico"

Thank you
Karlameen
English translation:three-dimensional drawing
Explanation:
convert the basic outline into a three-dimensional drawing.

I think most how-to-sketch books would refer to it in this way in English.

I fail to understand the reluctance to render the term "diagram" as used in the text.

diagram: a schematic or technical drawing that shows ... how something is constructed (in this case, the human body)

\"esquema volumétrico\"
volumetric anatomical model

Explanation:
Example:

This software is based [1] on the principles of ***volumetric anatomy*** [2] which uses three intersecting coordinate planes to locate the organs of the human body based on mathematical calculations. This is in contrast to the traditional method of describing the location of the organs in relation to one another.

the reason I suggested "model" to translate "esquema" is that "volumetric" implies three-dimensional drawing.

you wouldn't have to write "volumetric anatomical model" every time, you can shorten it to "volumetric model".

what I mean is, although the drawing itself will be two-dimensional (flat), the figure will appear to be a "model" because of the drawing techniques used: perspective, planes...

volumetric representation / modelling

Explanation:
Perhaps "esquema" refers not to an individual drawing or diagram, but to the act of diagramming, the approach to creating such diagrams.
