virtual assimilation into a common gender identity..

Explanation:
something like this...

virtual assimilation into a hypothetically-constructed common/homogeneous gender identity (shared sex) called "woman"

I read 共同性 as 共同の性, not cooperativity

(becoming) an imaginary singular identity of a hypothetically-formed communal body known as "women"

Explanation:
....In the same way, "feminism" can be described as transformation as an imaginary singular identity of a hypothetically-formed communal body known as "women."

共同体= a community, a communal society
共同社会= communal society
同一 = sameness, similarity, identity, equality, fairness (Nelson's Japanese Character Dictionary - I chose "identity")
想像上 = imaginary (Nelson's Japanese Character Dictionary)

imaginary identification with the socially constructed gender identity

Explanation:
I read the same way as Rie-san. 共同性 is not cooperativitiy, it is reffering to women as gender. "Woman/female" is a socially constructed gender identity. This might be a bit of 意訳, but you can play around it.

『想像の共同体』 is the Japanese title of a book by Benedict Anderson ("Imagined Communities"). Since 女性という仮構された共同性 is written in contrast to 国民国家という「想像の共同体」, I would use "imagined" as used by Anderson instead of imaginary.

For 同一化, I would use "identification" rather than "assimilation" because the latter is usually used when people of one group assimilate into a different group to become part of it. In that sense, I think "sense of belonging" as you translated is a good one, too.

Sorry, "the socially constructed gender identity" should be "a socially constructed gender identity".
