With the help of a transport unit (conveyor belt etc.), the input material is fed to the adjustable feeding chute (E1). The setting of this chute influences the entrance angle and the entrance point of the material to be separated in the sifter area. By a fan and an inlet shaft (E2) mounted to the front, the air flow is led into the sifter and diverts the material according to weight and surface. This diversion depends on the air volume produced by the fan and controlled by a frequency converter and air regulating slide. Heavy materials fall almost vertically down (A1), light materials are more diverted (A2). A separating drum driven by a motor serves as separation point. The position of this drum is also adjustable.

Explanation:
De beschreven installatie heet een windzifter: scheiding dmv een luchtstroom.
Zie de tekening en beschrijving op http://www.stramproy.nl/productgroups/SDL/duos/wzsz001.htm. Gedeeltelijk in het Engels, het bedrijf is zeer Nederlands.
Het gaat kennelijk om te aangedreven rol boven op de wig in het midden. Deze rol heeft als functie, het accumuleren van bv papier of plastic flarden op de rand van de wig te voorkomen. Als deze rol hol is, noemen engelsen het al gauw een drum. In andere installaties zou ik separating drum blind vertalen met scheidingsvat. Zo zie je maar, hoe belangrijk context is...

De Duitse versie (Trennschnitte) geeft aan dat het om het punt gaat, dat te twee stromen scheidt. In de gegeven tekst is dat de rol. Als je harde stukjes scheidt (die niet accumuleren) heb je de rol niet nodig: dan is het gewoon de wig.
