agree  Robert Forstag: I think that "quest" is what fits here, especially in the context of the "mystical knowledge of the divine" sought by the two cited figures.
4 mins
  -> Thanks, Robert. I'd like to see a bit more text before deciding between the two.

agree  James A. Walsh: "Quest for knowledge" sounds spot on to me!
4 mins
  -> Thanks very much, James.

agree  teresa quimper: Yes, "quest" would be better.
8 mins
  -> Thanks for weighing in, Teresa.

agree  AllegroTrans: quest
43 mins
  -> Thanks, Allegro Trans. There seems to be a consensus on quest.

agree  Claudia Luque Bedregal: quest for knowledge
1 hr
  -> Thanks very much, Claudia.

agree  bcsantos
3 hrs
  -> Cheers and thanks, bcsantos.

agree  Muses Inc: or perhaps even 'wisdom' - these are 2 of the greatest mystics; knowledge is human, wisdom is divine they say...
4 hrs
  -> Thanks, Muses. Your comment and Deborah's below are interesting, opening up the possibility of "Cult of Wisdom".

agree  Yvonne Gallagher: another vote for "quest"//think "cult" has very negative connotations these days as neilmac points out and quest is not just scientific but all knowledge. (and in quest for Holy Grail and not just Monty Python either!;-)
6 hrs
  -> Greetings and thanks, gallagy.

agree  Bubo Coroman (X): I think "cult of knowledge" fits well because these are two very important religious figures and "cult" is a direct reference to spiritual knowledge (as opposed to a quest for scientific knowledge)
15 hrs
  -> After reading your comment and muses', I searched for references. Quest comes up more than cult, but that could be only because quest has a certain ring to it.

agree  neilmac: I agree with Debs. Cult is fine but there may be reservations about the negative associations of "cult" (Manson, Jim Jones, Rev. Moon...), and quest is nice and Tolkienian.
15 hrs
  -> Thanks, Neil. The tricky part of cult isn't so much Manson, as the cults of Teresa and St. John themselves as saints.
