satisfies the criteria of life Explanation: The chemoton is an autocatalytic chemical supersystem that satisfies the criteria of life. It consists of three autocatalytic subsystems: a metabolic subsystem (self-reproducing chemical cycle), an informational subsystem (template polymerization cycle) and a boundary subsystem surrounding the former two (membrane). The chemical reactions of the three subsystems are coupled stoichiometrically, which coordinates the growth and division of the cell thus helping the system to be autocatalytic as a whole. http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 mins (2012-08-25 08:54:24 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_four_criteria_for_lif... http://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=206923 -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 22 mins (2012-08-25 09:04:47 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I wouldn't think quotation marks would be necessary if it's for a scientific community. |
