French term or phrase: relachement ODG
PPC:
fixation 9-10 cm et relachement ODG

This is part of an opthalmological report. The PPC is the punctum proximum of convergence, and I spoke to an opthalmologist who explained that the relachement refers to the point at which the patient loses focus.

"Fixation to 9-10 cm before losing focus OU/in both eyes"?

I have found 'loss of fusion' as a more technical term, but that needs to be verified.

Thanks to both of you. Liz, all your references were very helpful and I then spoke to an English ophthalmologist who confirmed "near point of convergence" is what they would usually use in this context. As you say, there is always so much research involved to try to get our terminology right, and both the French and English specialists I spoke to were amazed by how much detail we need to go into. Thanks for your time and effort helping me with this.

neutral  Tony M: Although I don't doubt that your suggested term may well be valid, do note that your refs. are specifically talking about accommodation rather than convergence; I don't know if the same term is used, though it does seem logical!
