equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree Explanation: 109/110 in an Italian university science degree course - equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree (based on a purely mathematical calculation, as UK results are; 109/110 is 99%) "First-Class Honours (First or 1st) (70% and above) (OPEN UNIVERSITY 85%+)" http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/Degree_Classifications 110/110 "con lode" at an Italian science master's degree - equivalent to a Master's degree with distinction. "Taught masters degrees require 180 credits worth of work, made of a combination of taught modules, projects and a dissertation. Some are merely given a pass or fail, but commonly taught master’s degree grades are fail, pass, merit (or credit) and distinction. The boundaries for this are usually 50% for a pass, 60% for a merit and 70% for a distinction." http://www.postgrad.com/editorial/advice/masters_programs/ma... As has been pointed out, the two education systems are not identical, but if you want to convey the degree of academic excellence achieved (and 109/110 at an Italian university IS an achievement), I think something like this would suffice. |
