French term or phrase: idéalement de manière ponctuelle
Hi

This is one of those phrases that can be translated in more than one way, judging from my research. I would be grateful for your suggestions.

Here is the context:

Le lorazépam peut être utilisé durant la grossesse sans augmenter significativement le risque malformatif, idéalement de manière ponctuelle; un traitement antipsychotique efficace est toutefois la priorité et devrait réduire au minimum la nécessité du traitement anxiolytique.

Thank you!

ideally on an occasional basis (only)
Explanation:
I'd go even further, and make it 'occasional' use — and I feel adding 'only' would help to make the point that is inherently understood with 'ponctuel'.

-> Thanks, Nikki! It is, after all, one standard translation for 'ponctuel' — so I don't think we need to « chercher midi à quatorze heures » here ;-)
