it is not likely to become an idiom...it is a simple comparison...the meanings of idioms are not knowable from the general meanings of the words themselves, like "to kick the bucket" meaning "to die" or پدرم در اومد

I saw those machines...I would love to have one for کوبیده

when I said sausage machine is not a well established expression, I meant it is not a well established "idiom". I think the best choice is to translate it as it is. I suggested this in the explanation to my suggestion, which, MAYBE Mehran has used to suggest his own suggestion

1. ... persons or machines...? Actually both. There's a machine here called سیخ گیر. you can do the job manually or with the machine. Also, here there is a TV commercial about کباب پز پلین! Peleen being a brand name.



2... butcher shop... can appreciate...? No need for the explanation of what a چرخ گوشت does. With a meat mincer in almost every house, one does not have to especially be to a butcher's.

I should make myself clear. a sausage machine divides the meat into small parts and, as you say, you don't know what is inside it. The point I'm trying to make is that چرخ گوشت does not do so, like a sausage machine does. my سیخ گیر or کباب پز, I think, has both parts: unless you make کوبیده at home, you usually don't know what is inside it, and in the process the meat it divided into smaller parts.

شله قلمکار and چرخ گوشت are nice, but I think my suggestion is closer, not the closest.

سیخ گیر - کوبیده پز ...do they refer to persons or machines? or both?

I think سیخ گیر - کوبیده پز and اش شله قلمکار are close, but the visual image of a sausage machine is really special with the meat entering in one form and coming out in another. Every one who has been to a butcher shop in Iran can appreciate it, which is why I chose چرخ گوشت

it has two characteristics. first, it breaks the amounts into smaller packages, like sausages, and then no one knows what is inside them, again like sausages.

I was actually thinking about اش شله قلمکار last night, but this accounts for the second part, as does چرخ گوشت. I was looking for an expression which accounts for the two characteristics.
