English term or phrase: Sausage machine
he had turned RBS into a "Sausage machine", making loans, packing them up into complex securites and ...
acthually i am searching for the idiomatic meaninf of this word. Many thanks in advance
skn.nosrati
سیخ گیر - کوبیده پز
Explanation:
According to the nature and function of RBS, and also taking into account my discussion entry above, I think this is a good choice because, firstly meat is taken and and broken into "packages." Secondly, although it has nice appearance nobody knows what is inside it; quality meat or the stuff one can also find in sausages. I think this is very close to the rationale behind "sausage machine".

However, I don't see why we should look for another equivalent in Farsi. sausage machine, to the best of my knowledge, is not an established expression in English. Also, the concept is not exotic or unknown in farsi. I think we can safely translate it and use it in farsi. the two dimensions of its use, I referred to above, are quite known and familiar to us Iranians.

sausage machine
چرخ گوشتی

Explanation:
It is comparing the bank's financial work to making sausage...all kinds of meat and other ingredients are mixed and ground together...you cannot tell what the original content was.

sausage machine
آش شعله قلم کار

Explanation:
actually if as Edward said the meaning is" all kinds of meat and other ingredients are mixed and ground together", then the idiomatic Persian equivalent would be آش شعله قلم کار

neutral  Edward Plaisance Jr: actually, referring to a sausage machine for contexts like these is a well-established usage
