As a hired paid translator, you must go by the GIGO principle, technically. It's what they call faithful translation. OK, you can flag this for your client (put on a postit, hilite it and make a note in the cover letter.)
As a partner to your client, improve on it if you feel like it. But then,
you must also tell the client what you've done.
