Explanation:
In this context, I think the parcours général denotes the general education courses the student takes before deciding their major and taking part in a specialized program.

So I would say "general education courses", "gen eds", "general program", or some version of "freshman courses".

Asker: Thanks, François, but I'm not so such because after a list of courses under this sub-heading, the next sub-heading is "unité des enseignements de spécialisation" followed by a list of courses. It thus seems this refers to general courses as opposed to specialisation courses.

Asker: I think that will do it, but the adjective "core" as proposed by B D seems more appropriate, at least in terms of frequency of use in the academic context.

Explanation:
As a former professor, and very familiar with these terms and programs in my career, I must say that «parcours général» is a wrong term here for «parcours éducatif» or «parcours d'études» which is not a Core Curriculum here in Canada since it means «tronc commun» or «programme d'étude». As for General Education Courses, it only refers to «cours d'enseignement général» or «enseignement de la formation générale» which would exclude any other vocational, technical or professional courses from what I suppose here is probably part of a CV or resumé written in French. I hope this will help Gombo.
