Matheus, it's correct most people don't use the hyphen that way, although technically we should, and failing to use it can create confusion. Regardless, context usually clarifies the intended meaning.

English-teacher, with a hyphen? I've never seen that in my life. I will definitely not argue about head-teacher vs. head teacher - I made a mistake there and the least I can do is admit it (by the way, I have no problem in doing that).

But English-teacher? If that's a grammar rule, no one seems to use it... anyway, thanks for sharing that. I will think twice about using "head-teacher" the next time.

Hyphens change the meaning. For example, English teacher = professor(a) ingles. English-teacher = professor(a) de ingles." Similarly, head teacher = a teacher who supervises the other teachers. Head-teacher = professor(a) de coito bucal.

Richard, it was exactly not a guess: the answer was based on the definition of "head", which gives the idea of "leader", "the most important person in a group", etc.
However, it doesn't match actual usage, so you are right - it is not the best choice.

I also think the glossary needs to be corrected. Maybe we should add "form teacher" for UK and"homeroom teacher" for US:

Yet again a non-native choose the wrong answer from another non-native, an answer with no substantiation and basically a guess. head teacher is something different people. And then it is added to the glossary! No wonder there is so much badly-translated gobbledy-gook floating around.
