Arabic term or phrase: الدبلوم العالي
يمنح الطالب فلان الفلاني شهادة الدبلوم العالي في مجال العلوم الطبية تخصص الصيدلة
This person has graduated after completing 3 years at a medical sciences institute in Tripoli.

I have been unsuccessful in trying to find what the Libyan الدبلوم العالي degree is. It seems it could be a degree after بكالوريوس and before ماجستير, as I have found forums where people are told that if you have a دبلوم عالي you can complete with a one-year ماجستير, etc.

Would appreciate if anyone with knowledge of the Libyan education system could help. Since دبلوم عالي could mean different things in different Arab countries, I would like to know only what it stands for in Libya.

Many thanks

Stage II: The Higher Diploma and the Master’s Degree (MA or MSc) are awarded after two years of study beyond the bachelor’s degree. These programs are mainly offered at the large universities, particularly Gar-yunis and Al-Fateh. Postgraduate studies in Libyan universities cover a wide range of subjects, but are generally dominated by Arabic, Islamic studies, social sciences, and humanities.
