English term or phrase: between your business’s flourishing in five years
Hello everyone,

"Realize, however, that to truly differentiate your business with customer experience, you have to clearly outpace your competition in this regard. Making a commitment to “be better at customer ser-vice” isn’t going to get the job done. Instead, as Walker suggests, you need to “create an unrelenting focus on the customer.” There are many elements of a comprehensive customer experience program, and discussing all of them falls outside the scope of this book. But the first step in differentiating your business with customer experience should be to be demonstrably better than each of your compet-itors in how you embrace complaints. Start there, and if you can successfully hug your haters, you’ll be on your way to a full-scale customer experience advantage that can literally be the difference ***between your business’s flourishing in five years***, when price and location are no longer deciding factors, and not existing at all"

Does "between your business’s flourishing in five years" simply mean your business wll be flourishing in five years? Shouldn't the difference be between two things and what are these two things in the sentence in question? The present state of the company and the flourishing state of the company?

Thank you.

Selected answer:difference between flourishing in 5 years and not existing at all
Explanation:
It's a rather unwieldy sentence and I can see why it's caused confusion
The second part of the comparison pair is after the final comma
