It’s not your fault if you’re confused by the expression, because personally I think the whole sentence is not well written to begin with. Notice how it says “se trunca” in the present, but “se materilizó” in the past, not to mention the use of commas here is arguable, and some expressions do not even sound Spanish (“e igual manera” is not the correct way to say it but “y de igual manera”). While I do agree with the previous answers (which is interrupted is probably your best bet), I think the whole sentence still sounds odd and should be rewritten (and improved).
