diet Explanation: I'd say it is simply *diet*, after some fishing around on google. Seems to refer to the crudes that a refinery uses/consumes/processes (therefore, its "diet"). Or possibly crude diet / crude diet / or refinery diet. But I get the impression that someone in the know would know what it refers to, so DIET would suffice. eg. consider this passage from page 6 of the website http://www.canadianfuels.ca/website/media/PDF/Publications/E... '..Therefore, every refinery faces a range of choices (and hence, risk and uncertainty). In the short term, they must constantly juggle their choices of inputs (crude diet) and refined outputs (product slate). In the longer term, they have to decide whether to invest in changing their configuration or shutting down. ' eg. the following talks of crude diet flexibility (ie being flexible on the variety of crude oils a refinery processes) https://public.bakerhughes.com/crude-oil-mgmt/ '.. Improve crude diet flexibilityand increase your profits Crude diet flexibility is one of the primary means of improving a refinery's profitability. The ability to process crudes—from light shale oil to heavy Canadian crudes—opens up a window of opportunity for refiners. However, with increased opportunities comes an array of challenges and risks. eg. The following goes on about the subject as well https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-08-08/top-oil-b... '..Still, the company -- and most refiners -- don't process purely light or heavier crude at any given time. It blends about 15 different grades of oil before a crude distillation unit cracks it into products including diesel and gasoline. The proportion of varieties changes depending on market factors, according to an ...' eg. another : https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-refineries-oil/outages-bri... The production cuts would reduce the supply of heavy and medium crude grades, weakening refining margins, particularly for companies like Spain's Repsol (REP.MC), for which heavy crude represents around half of the refinery diet, Romeo said. Global oil demand in 2016 is expected to rise by 1.2 million ... |
