I am translating a news article about the dissident guerrillas in Colombia, specifically about the current situation in one region after the Public Force recently killed one leader (alias David) and wounded another one (alias Guacho):

"Y también, habitantes, Fuerza Pública y líderes sociales, o sea los que sufren la violencia de las disidencias, *****no bajan a Guacho de un inflado de Gobiernos y medios*****, pese a ser el exguerrillero disidente que puso en jaque la seguridad de la frontera colombo-ecuatoriana y de haber secuestrado, torturado y asesinado a cinco ciudadanos ecuatorianos."

I read this segment as "are not knocking Guacho off the exaggerated position (perch? pedestal? but he can't be on a pedestal, that would be the opposite) the government and the media have put him on" or something along those lines, but I'm not sure.

I see it that they believe he is being exaggerated by the media, and "los que sufren la violencia de las disidencias" continue to see Gaucho as just that, despite all the acts he has committed.

They continue to see him/won't stop seeing Gaucho as being overhyped by the government and the media.
