I believe I originally suggested the term(s) without using 'de', as that's what I hear most often in everyday colloquial FR; but I think someone else said it was more correct to use the 'de'. Of course, in colloquial FR, we'd probably more likely say 'poteau EDF'! tele has to be short for 'telephone' or 'telecommunications', and 'power' is commonly used in the US for 'electricity' (cf. 'power lines', 'power utility', etc.), which is possibly traditionally more common in the UK. In France too, I think 'électricité' is more common, or 'énergie', but less often 'puissance'. |
