peer agreement (net): +4| grand salon large drawing-room Explanation: Personally, I only tend to use 'salon' in EN when discussing period living; for a period property in a current context, I tend to prefer 'drawing-room' which, though the word itself is dated, to me best conjures up the class of a period property. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 hrs (2019-01-28 12:36:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I would say US hotels are a rather different context, just as a hotel 'lounge' is rather different from the 'lounge' in your own home. By definition, ALL salons etc. are 'reception rooms', and in a description of a modern property, that would likely be the best solution; however, using a classier term when applied to a character period property all helps the marketing! |
