rotation flap Explanation: ABSTRACT Posttraumatic axillary soft tissue defects are extremely rare. The report presents the case of a 41-year-old male in whom the defect developed after a traffic accident. A dermato-fascial rotation flap from the lateral chest was used to close the main defect, with additional skin grafts for completing the repair. A closure of the whole defect was achieved, with only slight restriction of arm abduction. The patient recovered full function of the affected upper extremity. Keywords: axillary tissue defect; dermato-fascial flap; skin graft ABSTRAKT Pourazowe ubytki tkanek miękkich dołu pachowego są bardzo rzadkie. Rotation flaps provide the ability to mobilize large areas of tissue with a wide vascular base for reconstruction. The flap must be adequately large, and a large base is necessary if a back-cut will be needed to lengthen the flap. If the flap is too small, the residual defect can be covered by mobilizing the surrounding tissue. A drawback of rotation flaps is the extended cutting and undermining needed to create the flap, thus increasing the risk of hemorrhage and nerve damage. This term is often used in contrast with the term "free flap" where the transferred tissue is completely detached. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotation_flap |
