The COS Team Leader provides leadership in supporting the Team Members in their Cell Operating System. As the COS Team Leader you will be responsible for providing first response to support requests from Team Members. You will respond to and escalate issues appropriately, provide support to Team Members to meet daily goals, develop Team Members capability, and support the use of A3 DMAIC problem solving.

A Day in the Life


In conjunction with Supervisor ensure appropriate number of team members are in place (available) and are certified to perform the operations in their standardized work.

Provide short-term coverage for team members in work cell.

Support set up at beginning of shift

In partnership with Planner/Supervisor, agree to daily schedule and provide feedback as appropriate to help maintain level operations and ensure schedule is achieved.

Ensure 5S standard is visually evident.

Create and maintain standardized work based on current number of team members throughout shift and communicate standardized work paths to team members

Maintain and respond to visual indicators as per the visual management system

Continuously observe the performance of COS subsystems, elements, interactions, versus latest subsystem standards and respond to abnormalities identified by the cell team member accordingly; complete problem solving cards

Promptly escalate to appropriate support team (tier system) to ensure issues are resolved and enable production activity to return to normal.

Apply problem solving skills utilizing the A3/DMAIC process and facilitate daily problem solving meetings to engage and coach team members in continuous improvement and learning for COS/Problem solving/Standardized Work processes

Create flexibility by identifying knowledge gaps on skills and techniques and certifying team members to required work steps. Maintain training matrix.

Encourages cooperation and commitment within team to achieve goals.

Releases job/shop orders
