Can't get at the right English translation for this - can anyone help?

Sentence:
Dat (i.e. vergoeding) wordt berekend vanaf het tijdstip dat de loods het zeegat in kwestie verlaat tot hij naar zijn standplaats terugkeert.

agree  avantix: but without *is* !! "Hij gaat het zeegat uit" = "he puts to sea". If he "is put to sea" someone may have drowned him...

agree  Ton Remkes: 'harbo(u)r mouth!! [<-- definitely correct!] [river mouth = estuary!!] [een loods gaat en/of komt vrijwel altijd naar/uit een haven.] In minder waarschijnlijke contexten zou 'sea gate' als alternatief overweging waard zijn.
