marriage (property) partnership dissolved and (its assets) liquidated Explanation: I know nothing about Colombian law. However, but based on the civil law in my own country (Canada) I would say that the 'sociedad conyugal' is not the marriage itself but the regime (a partnership) under which the spouses hold property. Therefore in a case like yours 'con sociedad conyugal disuelta' does not mean that the marriage was dissolved. |

community property liquidated and distributed Explanation: A "sociedad conyugal" is the civil law system of community property "bienes gananciales" that exists in the U.S. in nine community property states (Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin, as well as in Puerto Rico), where all property that has been acquired during the marriage, other than a gift or inheritance is considered community property. So I believe it would be appropriate to use the terminology used in these states where it is not said that the community property regime or partnership is dissolved, but rather reference is usually made to liquidating and distributing the assets (community property)of the marriage when it is dissolved. |
