Pre-payment; commitment Explanation: Julia, This word must have to do with putting something towards an agreement--either some commitment, or a deposit (pre-payment). On the internet there was this paragraph about fraud in the building industry, and how agreements were made. |

pre-tender meeting Explanation: The term 'voorbesteding' cannot be found in the Dutch "Oxford' De 'Dikke' Van Dale. It is solely a term that is used in the building industry. According to what I found below, it is just a meeting for contractors, where they get a small compensation for attending and weeds out the small businesses. No wonder that this contract would like a personal meeting! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs 10 mins (2005-02-23 10:41:56 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I also meant to say that the word \'voorbesteding\' is a take-off on \'aanbesteding\': aanbesteding de (v.) 1 handeling putting out to tender call / invitation for tenders aan iemand contracting-out 2 opdracht Then there are many, many Google hits on \'pre-tender meeting\', which contrary to the Dutch word, really only serves to provide information. |
